Did you know that if you have ADHD, it might be more difficult for you to lose weight? Sad, but true.

The same difficulties that you have focusing on the task at hand or sticking with a project until it’s complete can also throw you off track when it comes to dieting.

Learning to Take a Break

The other night I spent several hours working on a small but important part of this website. I’ve had readers who signed up for my newsletter and had trouble with some of the links, so I was trying to fix those and change the sign up box as well.

This is normally something that would take 30 minutes, tops. I spent about 3-4 hours on it and, as you can see, I didn’t finish. (Well maybe you can’t see because you don’t know what I wanted to change, so trust me on that.)

A good place to begin is with the person who diagnosed you. Ask for their opinion and find out what your options are.

Adding Structure

Like most people with ADHD, I do better in a structured environment. And while I have worked outside of the home, most of my married “mom” years have been spent at home. Home – where there is little structure unless you create it (and enforce it).

I’ve been reading a lot of “makeover” kinds of books lately. Not hair and makeup makeovers; more like life makeovers. Gee that’s not too ambitious is it?
